Shear nesting demo: a cut list laid out for the shear
A 1:27 video, silent with captions, of Nestor's shear nesting, the free online cut list optimizer for squares and rectangles cut on a shear. A cut list of four sizes is typed and pasted from a spreadsheet, one size has its grain locked, and Nestor lays it out on 48 x 96 sheets, with how many sheets, the yield, the number of cuts and the back gauge moves. Each sheet is drawn with every cut numbered in order; the operator view takes the cuts one at a time with the back gauge setting for each; and the PDF cut plan downloads for the shop floor.
