Linear nesting demo: a cut list from the fewest bars
A 1:20 video, silent with captions, of Nestor's linear nesting, the free online cut list optimizer for lengths of bar, tube, pipe and structural stock. A cut list of posts, rails, braces and stubs is typed and pasted from a spreadsheet, fractions and all. The stock is a 10 ft remnant first, then 21 ft bars, with a 1/8 in saw kerf, 1/4 in trimmed from each end and the weight per foot. Nestor gives the fewest bars, the yield, the drops and the weight, draws each bar to scale with its pieces in the order to cut them, and makes a PDF cut list for the saw.
