Free hexagon and polygon DXF generator
Type the number of sides (6 for a hexagon, 3 to 12 in all) and the size across flats, with a center hole if you want one, and Nestor draws the polygon with a flat at the bottom and gives you its DXF, free, in inches or millimeters.

How it works
- Type the sizes in inches or millimeters. The part is drawn to scale as you type.
- If a size can’t work, such as a hole off the edge or two holes overlapping, the generator says what to change.
- Download the DXF, free. With a free account, save it to your parts library or nest it on a sheet in Nestor.
Questions
What does across flats mean?
The distance between two opposite flat sides, the way hexagon sizes are usually given. For an odd number of sides it is twice the distance from the center to a side.
Is it free?
Yes. Drawing a part and downloading its DXF is free and needs no account. With a free Nestor account you can also save the part to your parts library, or send it straight to Nestor's nesting tool to nest it on a sheet.
Inches or millimeters?
Either. Type sizes in inches (fractions such as 3/4 or 6 1/2 work) or in millimeters, and the DXF is written in the unit you pick, with its units set in the file so CAM software opens it at the right size.
What is in the DXF?
Only the cut lines: the outline and the holes, on one layer, as circles, straight lines and true arcs (rounded corners are arcs, not short straight pieces), in an AutoCAD R12 DXF, the version cutting software opens most widely.
Does it check the part?
Yes. The DXF can't be downloaded while a hole runs off the edge, holes overlap, or less than 1/16 in of metal is left between two cuts or a cut and an edge; the generator says what to change.
